Furnaces according to AMS 2750 F standard

Furnaces according to the 2750 F, NADCAP, CQI-9 standard
AMS 2750 F (Before 29-06-2020 AMS 2750 E) – Aerospace Material Specifications- is a standard for the processing of high quality materials in industry. These standards describe the requirements related to heat treatment. The AMS 2750 F standard and derived standards such as AMS 2770 for the heat treatment of aluminum are today the reference standard for the aeronautical and space industry. With the introduction of the CQI-9, the automotive industry is now committed to subjecting heat treatment processes to stricter rules. These standards describe in detail the requirements relating to thermal process plants:
• Uniformity of the temperature in the useful compartment (TUS)
• Instrumentation (requirements for measuring and regulating devices)
• Calibration of the measuring line (IT) from the controller via the measuring cable to the thermocouple
• System accuracy check (SAT)
• Documentation of the verification cycles
Compliance with the regulations is necessary in order to guarantee compliance with the quality standard required for the components to be made even in the mass production phase. For this reason, extensive and repeated checks are required, as well as instrumentation checks including related documentation.
AMS 2750 F requirements for furnace class and instrumentation
Depending on the quality requirements for the component to be subjected to heat treatment, the customer provides information on the type of instrumentation and the temperature uniformity class. The type of instrumentation describes the necessary composition of the control system used, of the recording instruments and of the thermocouples. The uniformity of the oven temperature and the quality of the instrumentation used depends on the required oven class. The higher the requirements regarding the furnace class, the more precise the instrumentation must be made.
Below is a simplified illustration that schematizes the equipment of the ovens that comply with the AMS 2750 F standard
